Danfoss Compressor Replacement: How to Prepare a Useful RFQ

Catalog photograph: Danfoss MT64HM4DVE. This image identifies the catalog example; it does not establish specifications or stock.

When requesting a Danfoss compressor replacement, give the supplier the complete compressor reference and the equipment details before comparing prices. A useful request for quotation, or RFQ, separates three questions: which item is being offered, whether it is suitable for the equipment, and what the commercial offer includes.

This guide helps purchasing teams collect the information for that review. It does not select a replacement or establish that two catalog models are interchangeable.

Record the model reference and ordering information separately

Photograph the compressor nameplate and transcribe its model reference exactly. If an old invoice, carton or parts list includes a separate product code, keep that code in a second field and attach the document.

For its MT and MTZ ranges, Danfoss distinguishes the compressor reference on the nameplate from code numbers used for ordering. This is a useful reason to retain both identifiers when they are available, rather than editing one to resemble the other. Danfoss MT and MTZ application guide, identification and ordering sections.

In the Archean catalog, Danfoss MT64HM4DVE is an example of a full model reference. Copy the complete text into an enquiry instead of reducing it to “MT64.” Do not add a guessed ordering code to the request.

Build a technical information packet

Ask the equipment owner or service technician for the equipment model, existing compressor identification and the application requirements they can document. Include the refrigerant stated in the equipment documentation, its electrical supply and the operating conditions used for selection. Mark missing information as unknown.

Danfoss’s application guide treats performance data and operating limits as separate information. A capacity figure should therefore travel with its stated conditions; it is not a complete replacement decision by itself. The MT/MTZ guide is specific to those ranges and should not be reused as a specification sheet for every Danfoss compressor. Danfoss MT and MTZ application guide.

Danfoss also provides commercial compressor documentation and Coolselector®2 as resources for data and selection work. Ask the person responsible for equipment selection to provide the relevant output or document, together with the exact model it covers.

Compare quotations line by line

When offers arrive, use the same checklist for each supplier:

  • Offered identity: full model reference and any ordering code, with differences from the request clearly stated.
  • Technical evidence: documents covering the offered version and the equipment review still required.
  • Supply scope: compressor only or an explicitly listed set of accessories.
  • Commercial details: quantity, currency, quoted validity, availability and dispatch estimate.
  • Delivery scope: destination, transport terms, packaging information and what the quoted freight includes.
  • After-sales terms: written warranty conditions and the process for reporting a delivery discrepancy.

Request confirmation of missing items rather than treating blank fields as included services. A written comparison makes it easier to spot a model change hidden inside an otherwise attractive price.

Similar model strings are separate records

SM110S4VC and SZ110S4VC both appear in our Danfoss catalog. The shared number is not a replacement approval. Keep the exact prefix and suffix in your purchase documents and ask for model-specific evidence if an alternative is proposed.

The same discipline applies to HCM120T4LC6 and other identifiers. A catalog entry helps you start a targeted enquiry; suitability and current availability require confirmation.

Questions buyers often ask

Can a supplier choose a replacement from a photo alone?

A clear photo can identify the original unit. Complete the equipment and application review before accepting an alternative; ask which facts remain unconfirmed.

Should I send an old quotation?

Yes, if you are allowed to share it and it helps identify the requested item. You can remove unrelated pricing or business information and retain the model, product code and relevant technical pages.

How do I request a quotation from Archean?

Submit a Danfoss compressor enquiry with the full model, quantity, destination and nameplate image. Add the equipment details in the requirements field. For an initial search, browse the compressor catalog and open the exact model record.
